Awesome June event!

Rooftop 866 Midtown

Rooftop 866 at the Marriott Renaissance Midtown was packed on Tuesday. Together with our friends at Flashpoint and Hypepotamus, and courtesy of Dell, we had over 200 people, some free drinks and appetizers, and great conversations.

I’d rate it one of our best events ever…

(At least until next month, when we’ll be going to Monday Night Brewing!. Watch for details here.)

March 5 at Troutman Sanders

Troutman Sanders

In March, it’s a VIP experience at Startup Drinks. We’re being hosted by our good friends at Troutman Sanders, in their offices high atop the Bank of America Tower, overlooking Midtown. Even better, Troutman Sanders is providing free beer, wine and snacks. As always, we will start at 5pm, and will go until 9:00ish.

If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, like us on Facebook, and sign up on Plancast.

See you there!

Fun May Event

We had a great turnout for our event last night at Six Feet Under, Westside. The weather was balmy, the beer was cold, the crowd was lively, and the conversation interesting. It was nice to see many of our regulars and also a large group of first-timers. Thanks to everyone for helping make the event such a success!

Our next event will be Tuesday, June 5. Location to be determined — watch here for details.

April 3 at the Commerce Club

The Commerce Club

We’re moving up in the world. This month, we’re going to observe our expanding command of the Atlanta scene from on high — the Commerce Club. By special invitation, we’ll be meeting in their Olympic Lounge and Media Room, with spectacular views of downtown Atlanta from the 49th floor of the 191 Peachtree Tower. Come meet and mingle with your fellow entrepreneurs, hobnob with Atlanta’s business elite, and hoist a beer (or perhaps a martini) while surveying your rightful domain.

(For those who don’t know, the Commerce Club is one of Atlanta’s oldest and most prestigious clubs. Its members include many movers and shakers in the Atlanta business establishment. Founded over fifty years ago, the club moved in 2010 from their old digs to a brand new ultra-modern club atop the 191 Peachtree Tower.)

There will be a free slider bar, drink specials, and a prize drawing.

As always, we will start at 5pm, and will go until 9:00.

If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, like us on Facebook, and sign up on Plancast.

See you there!

March 6 at 5 Seasons Westside

5 Seasons Westside

For our March event, w’re going to return to another favorite place, 5 Seasons Westside. We’ll be in their rooftop room. I’m hoping the freakishly unseasonable weather holds out (minus the torrential downpours) so we can go outside on the deck.

As always, we will start at 5pm, and will go until 9:30ish.

If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, and sign up on Plancast.

February 7 at Ormsby’s

Ormsby's

Our February event is at another of our favorite places, Ormsby’s, a “speakeasy” style bar hidden away on the West Side, near Georgia Tech. And we have a sponsor, our good friends at one of our favorite local startups, Monday Night Brewing.

Ormsby's secret door

By the way, when we say “hidden away”, we mean it. If you’ve never been to Ormsby’s before, follow the directions below, and look for the secret door with the big wrought iron “O” on it, underneath the furniture store.

As always, we will start at 5pm, and will go until 9:30ish.

If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, and sign up on Plancast.

Special Event: Holiday Party, Dec 14

Georgia Tech Hotel

We have a very special event planned this month, a Holiday Party at the Georgia Tech Hotel. This is going to be a great event — you won’t want to miss it. We’re partnering with our friends at ATDC, Startup Chicks, and Startup Riot. There will be a cash bar, with hors d’oeuvres provided by ATDC. And the best news, it’s free.

Given the special nature of this event, we’re expecting a big crowd. If you want to come, you must register at Eventbrite.

Please note the special schedule for this event: December 14 at 6pm. We will go until 9:00.

Also please note that there will not be a Startup Drinks on December 6, which would be our normal “First Tuesday” date this month. The normal Startup Drinks schedule will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, and publish your attendance on Plancast.

See you there!

Another Great Event

Big crowd at 151 Locust

The November 1st event at 151 Locust was terrific. We had a big crowd, and lots of interesting interaction. Thanks again to 151 Locust for hosting, and to The Beer Growler for providing beer. (Thanks also to for giving a discount at the after-party!)

There will be no event on December 6! That is because our next event will be a special holiday party on December 14 at the Georgia Tech Hotel, in partnership with the ATDC, Startup Chicks, and Startup Riot. Watch here or @atlsuds on Twitter for more information.

The Events Just Keep Coming!

Startup Drinks Special Event, Oct 2011

We had a terrific special event at The Barrelhouse last week. Alexis Madrigal and Sarah Rich from The Atlantic magazine were there, and were overwhelmed by the more than 125 startup folks who came out. They’ve written several articles about it, such as A Visual Guide to Atlanta’s Startup Scene:

We met at an event organized by a constellation of Atlanta startup community groups — Startup Chicks, Atlanta Startup Drinks, Startup Riot, the Advanced Technology Development Center — and sponsored by MailChimp, an email marketing startup that I’ve actually used myself.

The city’s entrepreneurs made an impressive show of force. Dozens of them came out to talk about their ventures with us — and with each other. We were blown away by the number and variety of startups, particularly in a town where there are just a handful of venture capital firms.

Not to be outdone, there’s another event tonight at 151 Locust. Details are here.

See you there!
