I’ve said it several times, but there is no Startup Drinks on December 6. I know it’s the first Tuesday, and that’s when we normally meet. Just not this month.
That’s because we’re doing a special Holiday Party on December 14. Details about this event have already been posted. Or you can just look it up on Plancast and sign up on Eventbrite.
We will NOT start at 5pm, and will NOT go until 9:30ish.
Don’t tell your friends, tweet about a December 6th @atlsuds event, or try to sign up for it on Plancast.
We won’t see you there!
Some of you have told me, “Dude, we love Startup Drinks, but you send us too many emails.”
If you feel that way, I’ve got your solution: a new Mailing List Profile page. Just click on the link and you can tell me to (for instance):
- Only email you once about each month’s event (no more reminders)
- Only email you about upcoming Startup Drinks events (nothing else).
Please note: if you’re already on our mailing list, this is a multi-step process:
- Fill in your email address on the form and click “Subscribe to list”
- You’ll get an error message. Click “Click here to update your profile”.
- You’ll be sent an email (for security purposes). Click on the “Update your preferences” link in the email.
- You’ll be taken to the Update Profile page, where you can (finally!) update your profile.
We’ll save up the bits we don’t use sending unwanted emails to everyone, and give them to a deserving startup of our choice!
We have a very special event planned this month, a Holiday Party at the Georgia Tech Hotel. This is going to be a great event — you won’t want to miss it. We’re partnering with our friends at ATDC, Startup Chicks, and Startup Riot. There will be a cash bar, with hors d’oeuvres provided by ATDC. And the best news, it’s free.
Given the special nature of this event, we’re expecting a big crowd. If you want to come, you must register at Eventbrite.
Please note the special schedule for this event: December 14 at 6pm. We will go until 9:00.
Also please note that there will not be a Startup Drinks on December 6, which would be our normal “First Tuesday” date this month. The normal Startup Drinks schedule will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
If you’re coming, please help us get the word out: tell your friends, tweet about @atlsuds, and publish your attendance on Plancast.
See you there!

Watch for our next event, the awesome Holiday Party at the Georgia Tech Hotel on December 14, in partnership with ATDC, Startup Chicks and Startup Riot.
There will be no event on December 6.
The November 1st event at 151 Locust was terrific. We had a big crowd, and lots of interesting interaction. Thanks again to 151 Locust for hosting, and to The Beer Growler for providing beer. (Thanks also to for giving a discount at the after-party!)
There will be no event on December 6! That is because our next event will be a special holiday party on December 14 at the Georgia Tech Hotel, in partnership with the ATDC, Startup Chicks, and Startup Riot. Watch here or @atlsuds on Twitter for more information.
We had a terrific special event at The Barrelhouse last week. Alexis Madrigal and Sarah Rich from The Atlantic magazine were there, and were overwhelmed by the more than 125 startup folks who came out. They’ve written several articles about it, such as A Visual Guide to Atlanta’s Startup Scene:
We met at an event organized by a constellation of Atlanta startup community groups — Startup Chicks, Atlanta Startup Drinks, Startup Riot, the Advanced Technology Development Center — and sponsored by MailChimp, an email marketing startup that I’ve actually used myself.
The city’s entrepreneurs made an impressive show of force. Dozens of them came out to talk about their ventures with us — and with each other. We were blown away by the number and variety of startups, particularly in a town where there are just a handful of venture capital firms.
Not to be outdone, there’s another event tonight at 151 Locust. Details are here.
See you there!
