Fun May Event

We had a great turnout for our event last night at Six Feet Under, Westside. The weather was balmy, the beer was cold, the crowd was lively, and the conversation interesting. It was nice to see many of our regulars and also a large group of first-timers. Thanks to everyone for helping make the event such a success!

We’re going to a new place this month. (Although I’ve been there many times, as have you, I bet — I know my audience!) Six Feet Under, Westside. We’ve got the rooftop deck reserved, so I hope it’s nice. Many beers on tap, excellent food, and a terrific view of the skyline. Should be a great place to hang out and chat with our fellow startup fiends. (Oops, I meant friends.)

Great April Event

Our April event was a lot of fun, and a nice change of pace. Over 50 people attended and enjoyed cocktails and free appetizers with a magnificent view of downtown Atlanta from the palatial Commerce Club. You can see the photos at Flickr.

April 3 at the Commerce Club

We’re moving up in the world. This month, we’re going to observe our expanding command of the Atlanta scene from on high — the Commerce Club. By special invitation, we’ll be meeting in their Olympic Lounge and Media Room, with spectacular views of downtown Atlanta from the 49th floor of the 191 Peachtree Tower. Come meet and mingle with your fellow entrepreneurs, hobnob with Atlanta’s business elite, and hoist a beer (or perhaps a martini) while surveying your rightful domain.

(For those who don’t know, the Commerce Club is one of Atlanta’s oldest and most prestigious clubs. Its members include many movers and shakers in the Atlanta business establishment. Founded over fifty years ago, the club moved in 2010 from their old digs to a brand new ultra-modern club atop the 191 Peachtree Tower.)

There will be a free slider bar, drink specials, and a prize drawing.

Special Guests at March Event

Startup Bus will be dropping by our March 6 event, enroute from Florida to SXSW. Think of them as Startup Weekend on wheels. Their goal: to create startup(s) from scratch on the bus, and launch them at SXSW.

That’s right: a busload of caffeine-soaked Floridians with a startup problem, making a beer stop in Atlanta. I imagine they’ll be thirsty. What could be more fun than that? And a great opportunity to hear what they’re hatching and to form some relationships beyond our fair city.

So, come one, come all! Let’s show those gator-lovers (or should that be Gator-lovers?) what the Atlanta startup scene is about.

March 6 at 5 Seasons Westside

Our February event is at another of our favorite places, Ormsby’s, a “speakeasy” style bar hidden away on the West Side, near Georgia Tech. And we have a sponsor, our good friends at one of our favorite local startups, Monday Night Brewing.

By the way, when we say “hidden away”, we mean it. If you’ve never been to Ormsby’s before, follow the directions below, and look for the secret door with the big wrought iron “O” on it, underneath the furniture store.
